Bill's Birthday Bash - Llandogo Millennium Hall

Birthday Collage

Thank you all for coming to 'Bill's Bash' on Saturday. For all your support with the raffle and the great dancing.

'Life of Riley' was there pumping out music & instructions & everyone learned a dance or two.

The final raffle count was £398.00 cash and £30.00 promised.

We rounded the cash up to £400 and gave £200 to Cancer research - £ 100 to Macmillan nurses and £ 100 to the Velindre Cancer Unit.

When the remaining £30 comes in it will also go to cancer research.

A magnificent result - thank you all again for your support.

Bill had a great and memorable evening when he got used to the idea - he thanks you all for making it so.

Barn Dance at Landogo

A Fantastic BARN DANCE
at the Millennium Hall, Landogo transpired on Sat 8th Nov 2014.
Life Of Riley played for an audience of about 80 rollicking dancers who seemed to be having the time of their lives.
"Best laugh I've had in years!" was one overheard comment.
The 2 course supper finishing with apple pie & cream
was most delicious as well.
Funds were raised for a new zip wire at Tintern Station.
Such Fun!

June 2013

No Business like Snow Business

May was quite a pleasant month despite the weather.

Life Of Riley Ceilidh at Stonehouse

Life Of Riley was lucky enough to play for a ceilidh at a Birthday bash for Snow Business at Stonehouse.

Morris & Jack at Snowbusiness

Morris & Jack at Snowbusiness

It was especially pleasant for us as it gave us chance to play with our new part time fiddle player, Jack Brothwell.
He's also a very handy fellow on accordion, kilted Scottish pipes & other instruments too numerous to mention (So I Won't).
I expect he's good at making soup, too!

Other memorable events in May for us were Maggie Walters' Birthday Ceilidh at English Bicknor Village Hall, The Bishopswood Flower Festival & a walk in The Bluebell Wood (See blogs below).

Life Of Riley in a Bluebell Wood

Life Of Riley in a Bluebell Wood

Nothing like a bluebell wood to lift the spirits!
This was taken during a woodland walk near Sudley a few days ago.
Who needs to go abroad for a holiday?

Bishopswood Flower Festival

We were lucky enough to play at Bishopswood Church Flower Festival last night. Also performing was Ben Stratford on Baritone Horn accompanied by Rosemary Lewis on the organ. Ben is to the Baritone Horn what James Galway is to the flute - beautiful stuff.
Thanks to Monica Edmunds for organising the evening & to Sylvia for the wonderful punch (drink - she didn't attack anybody).

Bishopswood church is known as "The Church in the Trees". It's a largely undiscovered little treasure - an ideal place for a lovely wedding!

Barbara's Wild West Hoedown

Hoedown at Ruardean, gloucestershire

The barn dance at Ruardean Village Hall to celebrate Barbara’s 80th B’day turned into a real wild west party. The whole event was magnificently managed by her daughter, Tracy who hired Life Of Riley to provide the music & barn dance calling.

Cowboys & gals were having a wild old time with “yee ha”s erupting everywhere. One of the ranch hands even brought his horse along!

Ceilidh In Upton St Leonards

Ceilidh near Gloucester

When Wendy Metcalfe decided a Ceilidh would be a good way to celebrate her husband Andy’s 50th birthday, Life Of Riley were happy to oblige. Around 100 guests turned up to celebrate the occasion,                 & a great time was had by all in Upton St. Leonards Village Hall.

Wendy reckoned it was the best Ceilidh she’d ever been to.

(We’re looking forward to doing his 60th then, Wendy)
